02.02.2004
The president of the Assembly, Dr. Nexhat Daci has expected today a delegation of parliamentarians from Belgium, France and Germany composed of: Robert Myttenare, Secretary of the Belgian Parliament, Carinne Luquiens, Director for International Relations at the National Assembly of France and Evahard Voss, Director for International relations in the German Bundestag. At the meeting, different possibilities for the support of the three parliaments were discussed since the three parliament run a joint project in support of the Assembly. Professor Daci has spoken about the work of the Assembly towards approval of laws, in compatibility with the legislation of the countries of Western Europe, for the democratic development of Kosova and the equality of all citizens of Kosova, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds. He has said that in line with the improvement of the legislative body in Kosova, it is being worked on towards the independence of the Assembly from the executive in both the administrative and financial fields. The head of the Assembly of Kosova, has said that Albanians who make about 90% of the population of Kosova are represented in the Assembly with seven political parties, the same number representing the minority parties. He has said that the national minorities in Kosova should be represented in accordance with their actual strength and has expressed his dissatisfaction with what he called, an experiment by which a group that represents 5% of the population is represented with 20 percent in the Assembly. Daci has stressed the need for exchange by different parliaments towards the EU integration and has added that Kosova will co-operate with all countries and that its place will be the united Europe. The representatives of Belgium, France and Germany have presented particular concrete projects and have asked for feedback how those projects can best assist the Assembly of Kosova and the people.
Dr. Daci has requested that the exchange of information between different parliaments should be done in a direct way and has said that the legitimate representatives of Kosova should have the possibility to directly present the truth about Kosova before international authoritative mechanisms.
